Coca Cola Jumps to Plastic Bags for Packaging

As a general rule, if someone tells us that they’re using plastic bags for packaging, we would be the opposite of impressed. This case however is slightly different as Coca Cola is now slowly moving to the lesser evil of plastic bags, from the comparatively intense alternatives. While entirely commendable, Coca Cola’s move does not come from environmental considerations alone.

They have been equally swayed by profits and their competition. It would seem that Coca Cola has a tough competition in Central America, where domestic sodas are sold in cheap plastic bags, as compared to Coke’s bottles that can be more expensive to the consumer.

Whatever be their consideration, they did go with the move right. Coca Cola Bag is made out of biodegradable plastic shaped into the form of the Cola bottle. The new packaging brings down costs at the consumer end, while also being environmentally friendly. It’s a win-win.
